Stephen is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant. He holds the designations of Certified Valuation Analyst and Master Analyst of Financial Forensics through the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts. Stephen is credentialed as a Certified Fraud Examiner through the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He is also a licensed real estate broker in North Carolina.
Stephen developed a one-hour course called “Working with Forensic Accountants and Business Valuators” that is approved for continuing legal education by the Georgia Commission on Continuing Lawyer Competency and the State Bar of Georgia. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Estate Planning Council of Northeast Florida, and the Rotary Club of West Jacksonville.
Stephen earned a Master of Science in Accountancy in May 2020 from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He also received a Master of Business Administration from the Florida State University in 1988 and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Georgia in 1987.
Before joining Business Valuation, Inc., Stephen was a business valuation and forensic accounting specialist for Schell & Hogan, LLP CPA firm in Saint Simons Island, Ga. He also worked on the firm audit and individual tax teams. Prior to working for Schell & Hogan, Stephen was a legal assistant and forensic accountant for a Georgia family law practice and an economic analyst for a nationally renowned economist in Chicago.
As a Senior Analyst for Business Valuation, Inc., Stephen prepares business valuations for a variety of purposes including estate planning and gifting, tax compliance, purchase or sale, and strategic planning. His valuations serve the needs of law firms, wealth planners, and business owners in numerous industries. Stephen also provides litigation support services in the areas of forensic accounting and forensic economics.
